Objectives

Protein folding and misfolding is a timely topic of high interest for both basic and applied research. It is also a rapidly evolving field where theoretical and technological innovations are continuous. The aim of this meeting is to bring together experts in the field who have approached the problem with diverse techniques and may have contrasting opinions on the interpretation of experimental results. The meeting will therefore represent a forum where ample time is given to debate and where the discussion, facilitated by experienced discussion leaders, will involve participants as well as speakers. We believe that it is very important to stimulate the debate on both the theoretical and the practical aspects of protein folding and misfolding, with special attention to the implications of the experimental results for theoretical models and to their impact on biomedical problems.

Participants

The maximum number of participants is 100. The selection will be done by the organizing committee and will be in line with EMBO guidelines.
Registration and meals are free of charge for accepted participants.

Application form

The deadline for applications was February 7th, 2003. Accepted participants can download the abstract form here and send it as an attachement by mail to Anna Tramontano .

Location

The Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei was founded in 1603 by Federico Cesi and is located in "Palazzo Corsini", a wonderful 18th century building by Ferdinando Fuga located in the heart of Rome. The venue is extremely attractive and its lovely gardens are ideally suited to foster discussions and interaction. Lunch will be provided on site using a catering service. Rome has accomodation in all price ranges, especially in the area near the Accademia.
